What makes Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) a success

This project aims to understand why some rural DRT services are success and why others are not, and whether the current services can be improved via automation and digitalisation solutions

Using data collected from DRT services in various locations in Salzburg's Alpen mountain, this project (1) develops a standardised set of measurements (KPIs) to systematically measure the performance of a rural on-demand service, and (2) investigates whether the current service can be improved via new socio-technological solutions. A standardised set of KPIs would enable us to benchmark and objectively measure the impacts of different indicators on the success of a particular on-demand service. This will enable us to objectively measure the possibility and plausible impacts of such changes from the perspectives of society, government, environment, sustainability and equity.
